Bukhara Madrasa: Classical Islamic Scholar Tradition in Berlin

What is a madrasa?

Madrasah is the center of knowledge production and transfer of Islamic civilization. Madrasahs established in major scientific cities such as Bukhara, Samarkand, Baghdad and Cairo have trained scholars, thinkers and statesmen for centuries. Institut Bukhara keeps this deep-rooted tradition alive in the heart of Berlin.

Our Educational Philosophy

Our understanding of education is based on the classical student-teacher relationship. Each student receives one-on-one guidance on their journey of knowledge. A balance of understanding by memorization, reason through transfer, and modernity with tradition is observed.

"Knowledge is sought from the cradle to the grave. Go and get knowledge even if it is in China."

Our Curriculum

Our four-year education program is prepared at the Faculty of Theology level and covers the following basic areas:

1. Sciences of the Holy Quran

With the rules of tajwid, recitation training and memorization program, it is aimed to both read the Holy Quran correctly and memorize it. Tafsir lessons focus on the deep meanings of the verses.
